Research Fees

Research fees listed below are one-time setup and administrative fees.

Level 1: $500

Research administration includes:

  • Protocol evaluation, which includes type of imaging, reading, acquisition parameters, CPT codes, etc.
  • Completion of site surveys/questionnaires specific to each modality.
  • Coordination and scheduling of services.
  • Imaging setup in the scanner by technician or modality supervisor.
  • Attendance in training, meetings and conferences (on or off-site*, teleconferences, webinars) by research administrator, staff and technicians as may be required for each study.

*Please note: Attendance in investigator meetings will be at sponsor's expense and may depend on technologist or staff availability.

Level 2: $700

Research administration includes:

  • Protocol evaluation, which includes type of imaging, reading, acquisition parameters and CPT codes.
  • Completion of site surveys and questionnaires.
  • Coordination and scheduling.
  • Multimodality imaging requirements and multiple scanner setups by technologist or modality supervisor.
  • Review by modality supervisor(s).
  • Review and facilitate requests for special services. Separate fees apply (please refer to the table below) for special services provided by radiologists, physicists, technicians and staff beyond standard of care, such as:
    • Special reads: RECIST/WHO/RANO; reading requests for non-CPT driven scans, etc.
    • Radiation dosimetry, quality control and assurance tests, phantom calibrations and other study requirements that may require the services of a medical physicist (CT or MRI).
    • Electronic Data File Transfer Protocol (sFTP) setup by information technology (radiology and hospital).
    • Others: image post-processing off-hours and other services beyond standard of care.
  • Attendance in training, meetings and conferences (on-site or off, teleconferences, webinars) by research administrator, staff and technicians as needed for each study.

Special Services

Special services include:

  • Special reporting and interpretation requirements
  • Reading and interpretation for imaging scans performed hourly and non-CPT driven
  • Special post-processing of image datasets previously acquired in UC Irvine scanners
  • Other services that may be required above and beyond standard
Special Service Rates/Fees
Response Evaluation Criterias in Solid Tumors (RECIST), Response Assessment in Neuro-Oncology (RANO), WHO
Research rates per body part are posted in CRFA Budgetmaker
Reading/interpretation for research imaging scans: Non-CPT driven (ie, scans performed on campus or other scanners); hourly rate scans $100/body part scanned
Radiology technician support (CT, MRI, NM, etc.) for imaging $75/hour (off-hours)

Special image post-processing request beyond standard

Hourly tech fees apply (off-hours)
CT or MRI physicist (radiation dosimetry, QA/QC; phantom calibrations, etc.). $100/hour
Sample/test images (volunteer) Research exam rate per CRFA
Phantom test images – phantoms provided by sponsor/study team Research exam rate per CRFA

 


Please note: Rates for other services requested by sponsors, investigators and/or study teams that are beyond standard, outside of office hours or on weekends will be calculated depending on type of service required and/or according to radiology personnel's hourly rate x 1.5.
