Overview

The UCI Health School of Medicine Department of Radiological Sciences offers a one-year or two-year residency training program in interventional radiology through our independent program. Completion of an accredited diagnostic radiology program is required for entry into the independent program. Both ESIR and non-ESIR applicants are welcome. Graduates will be eligible for dual board certification in IR/DR.

Our well-rounded training experience is designed to prepare residents for careers in either academic radiology or private practice, all in an amazing location. Residents participate in the entire gamut of modern interventional radiology care with an emphasis on pre- and post-procedure management and clinic patient evaluations. Participation in ongoing research projects, publications, and submission to regional and national meetings is highly encouraged and supported.

The Interventional Radiology Independent Residency Program at UCI participates in the Electronic Resident Application Service (ERAS) and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
