Dear colleagues and staff,
As we welcome the new year, I am excited to reflect on one of our department’s most significant achievements from the past year: the successful launch of two cutting-edge facilities—the Outpatient Imaging Center (OIC) in Orange and the fully green Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) in Irvine. These milestones represent our commitment to exceptional patient care and sustainable healthcare practices. We are proud to enter the new year with these facilities fully operational, serving our community with the latest in imaging technology and environmentally conscious medical services.
Throughout 2024, our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to prepare for the launch of these state-of-the-art facilities. From hiring and training staff to installing advanced imaging technologies, we have made every effort to position ourselves as the leading medical imaging department in Southern California.
A key highlight of these centers is the incorporation of advanced imaging technologies that will revolutionize radiology. Our investments include the fastest computed tomography (CT) scanner in the world, 3T and 1.5T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines, the most sensitive positron emission tomography (PET) scanners, the first of its kind SPECT CT in Southern California, 3D breast imaging, and the latest ultrasound technologies. These machines will enhance our diagnostic capabilities and ensure a safe, seamless, and comfortable experience for our patients.
Designed with patient-centric care at their core, both centers are the result of years of meticulous planning. The layouts and amenities create a warm and welcoming environment. For instance, our CT scanners are equipped with technology that delivers significantly lower radiation doses while achieving the highest diagnostic image quality. In collaboration with UC Davis researchers, many rooms feature advanced lighting technology to foster a soothing atmosphere.
Now that our new imaging facilities are open, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your unwavering dedication and collaborative spirit. This achievement is further complemented by the recent opening of the Irvine Hospital expansion, which enhances our advanced imaging capabilities and increases our capacity to serve more patients. Together, these developments signify a leap forward in our healthcare infrastructure. I am confident that our combined efforts across these facilities will set new standards of excellence in patient care and solidify our leadership in medical imaging and healthcare delivery in Southern California.
In conclusion, the opening of the Outpatient Imaging Center and the Ambulatory Care Center marks a significant milestone for the Department of Radiological Sciences. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved and excited about the endless possibilities ahead. Together, let us continue to strive for excellence, embrace innovation, and provide the highest quality of care to our patients.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support.
